All 4 large-scale reactors for Jingmen Petrochemical’s high-pressure hydrogenation project to produce 600,000 tons per year of naphthenic specialty oils have been installed

On July 25, the R101 hydrogenation reactor, the core equipment for Jingmen Petrochemical’s project to produce 600,000 tons per year of cycloaliphatic specialty oils through high-pressure hydrogenation, was successfully lifted into place. With this, all 4 large-scale reactors for this project have now been installed. This marks a key step forward for the Jingmen Petrochemical’s oil-to-specialty project. At 8:38, the hydroprocessing reactor was officially lifted. For this lifting operation, a 2,000-ton crawler crane was used as the main lifting device, in conjunction with an 800-ton crawler crane used for assisting with the lift. At 11:41, the hydrogenation reactor was successfully lifted into place. To ensure a successful lift, the project team overcame challenges such as the large size of the equipment and limited working space through multiple simulations and risk assessments. The high-pressure hydrogenation project with an annual production capacity of 600,000 tons of naphthenic specialty oils is a key project under Jingmen Petrochemical’s strategy to shift from producing ordinary oils to specialty oils; it mainly manufactures high-value-added specialty oils such as naphthenic rubber plasticizers and transformer oil. Upon completion of the project, Jingmen Petrochemical will be able to produce more than 300,000 tons per year of special oil products. Without an increase in energy consumption or carbon emissions, the total output of these special products will exceed 1 million tons per year, making it possible for the facility to become the largest production base for special oils in China.
