Recently, new progress has been made on the Phase 3 fertilizer project at NCIC in Egypt, which is being constructed by China National Chemical Fifth Ring Corporation. The first key piece of equipment – the ammonia synthesis tower – has arrived at the site; this equipment is also the heaviest individual unit in this project. This project is the largest phosphate fertilizer project in Egypt. As a key cooperation project under the Belt and Road Initiative, it is a landmark project that deepens China-Egypt cooperation and contributes to regional sustainable development. By establishing modern fertilizer production lines, the project will significantly enhance the stability and self-sufficiency of local fertilizer supply, providing strong impetus for regional agricultural production. It will also contribute to the upgrading of Egypt’s domestic chemical industry, holding strategic importance for ensuring food security in the Middle East and Africa as well as promoting the transition to green agriculture. In terms of environmental protection, the project fully adheres to the principles of green construction, employing low-carbon construction methods and eco-friendly materials, which helps to significantly reduce the carbon footprint during both the construction and operation phases. During the peak construction period, the project will create over 6,000 jobs for the local community. It not only enhances the quality and efficiency of construction work but also serves as a model example of integrating industrial cooperation, environmental protection, and social responsibility in the framework of China-Africa cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, demonstrating the wisdom and strength of Chinese enterprises in contributing to global sustainable development.
