The Sino-Saudi Ghulai tank farm project, which is under EPC general contracting by Nanjing Engineering, has reached mechanical completion

On September 26, 2025, the Shacha Gulei Tank Farm project, which is under the company’s EPC general contracting, held the completion signing ceremonies for Tank Area 1 and Tank Area 2, achieving the milestone goal 4 days ahead of schedule. The owner’s project management team and all parties involved in the construction attended the ceremony to sign the mechanical completion certificate on site.
The construction of the tank farm for the Zhongsha Gulei ethylene project includes key facilities such as 44 spherical tanks and 48,000 cubic meters of bimetallic cryogenic tanks. The area covered by this facility is nearly 600,000 square meters; the amount of pipeline welding required is around 500,000 inches, cable laying amounts to about 1,500 kilometers, and the volume of concrete used exceeds 80,000 cubic meters. Since work began in March 2024, facing challenges such as the large scale of the project, tight deadlines, and a vast construction area, the project team has strictly adhered to international management standards. By focusing on design, they have carefully optimized the design plans to ensure the project’s scientific approach and forward-thinking nature ； By ensuring material procurement, an efficient supply chain system is established to guarantee timely supply of materials ； Driven by the on-site construction progress, safety and quality management are advanced to high standards, construction plans are carefully arranged, resources from all parties are actively coordinated, and project construction is steadily progressed. The installation of the country’s largest cluster of spherical tanks was completed in 162 days, setting a record for the industry ； The self-designed and constructed 48,000 cubic meter cryogenic storage tank achieves ‘zero deviation’ in gas lift operation” ； All key tasks, such as the pressure testing of process pipelines throughout the facility and the construction of loading/unloading stations, were carried out as planned, laying a solid foundation for the completion of the mechanical installations.
