In our aromatization plant, the reciprocating compressors experience valve blockage and cylinder collision after 20–30 hours of operation during regeneration. The filter screen was also cleaned; it wasn’t dirty even after being taken out. I have no idea what the reason is

I think focusing solely on the compressor is limiting. During a reactive shutdown, pay attention to adequate dry gas circulation to ensure that the oil and liquefied petroleum gas in the reactor are completely removed. When regenerating the aromatization catalyst, carefully check the drainage from the liquid separation tanks before and after the regeneration compressor, and drain the liquid promptly. Pay attention to adjusting the regeneration temperature and oxygen injection volume to ensure thorough catalyst regeneration.
It’s likely that the composition of the medium has changed, and there is coking in the gas valve, which has caused the blockage.
1. When there is knocking in the cylinder, first analyze the reasons related to the equipment – could it be that the piston clearance is incorrect?; 2. Next, consider process-related factors: dirty media, damaged filters, liquid in the inlet, etc.
We encountered the same problem before; the light hydrocarbon gas coked under high temperatures. Check the condensation effect of the cooler.
