I wonder whether the product consumption per unit in the alkylation units of various companies is calculated based on the total amount of steam/C4, or based on the total amount of steam/alkylated oil. The same goes for sulfuric acid. Our company calculates based on the total amount of steam/alkylated oil. However, the total amount of alkylated oil is related to the olefin content in C4; a higher olefin content results in a lower specific consumption, while the opposite is true. Which calculation is more reasonable to use?
The specific consumption is generally calculated on a per-unit-of-product basis, which provides a better indication of the energy required to produce one ton of product
Refining companies generally calculate based on the raw material consumption per unit, while chemical plants usually calculate based on the product consumption per unit

It all has to be calculated based on the amount of steam or acid per ton of oil

Is it considered energy consumption? There’s also water, electricity, coal, and the alkylated oil measured over 24 hours; raw materials, n-butane, isobutane, supplementary isobutane, propane, external cooling fluid, and acid consumption – with these, it can be calculated.
