After being treated with propane for alkaline washing, the DuPont alkylating alkaline solution is divided into two streams: one stream goes to the outlet for alkaline washing, while the other stream goes directly to the inlet for aqueous washing. I would like to know what the purpose of this second stream is It’s not turned on under normal operating conditions; is it used as a emergency measure when the pH after water washing is too low?
We also use the DuPont method for alkylation; I didn’t see this wire on site... It’s likely that the design team removed it as part of the optimization process

It probably won’t be useful; once the water washing tank becomes acidic, it indicates that there was a problem earlier on. One should start by examining process parameters such as the olefin to alkene ratio, the acid to hydrocarbon ratio, and the reaction temperature.
