Recently, the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation and the China Chemical Industry Environmental Protection Association organized the \"2018 Green Development Conference for the Petroleum and Chemical Industry\" in Xi’an, Shaanxi. Centered on the theme of \"Innovation, Greenness, and Sustainable Development,\" the conference discussed strategies for the green development of the oil and chemical industries, unveiled green factories and green products in this sector, and exchanged experiences in green development as well as advanced environmental protection technologies. Li Li, inspector of the Department of Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, spoke at the conference and stated that the full implementation of green manufacturing is an important measure to carry out the spirit of the Party’s guidelines and to put the new development concepts into practice. It helps to address the shortcomings in China’s green development efforts, accelerate the creation of new drivers for growth, and promote green economic development. The petroleum and chemical industries are important foundational sectors of the national economy; they provide essential raw materials for construction, strongly support the development of related industries, and contribute to the advancement of China’s industrialization and modernization process. The petroleum and chemical industry needs to further enhance its awareness of green development, accelerate the implementation of green transformations in its production processes, actively participate in the establishment of a green manufacturing system, and speed up the progress of green development within this industry.
