On October 10, it was learned from Bengbu Guotai Nano Materials Co., Ltd., which is controlled by Bengbu Investment Group Co., Ltd. (Bengbu Investment Group), that after several months of intensive debugging and trial production, the company’s 80,000-ton per year titanium dioxide production line using the chlorination method has recently achieved stable mass production. It is reported that the national titanium nano-titanium dioxide project via chlorination method involves the construction of a production line capable of producing 80,000 tons of titanium dioxide through chlorination per year. This is complemented by production lines for manufacturing 200,000 tons of titanium-rich materials per year and 150,000 tons of products derived from molten iron (ductile iron pipes) per year. Once operational, the annual sales revenue is expected to reach nearly 3 billion yuan; this project represents the largest manufacturing investment held by Bengtou Group in recent years. Public information shows that Guoti Nano was established in 2020 with a registered capital of 500 million yuan. As one of the enterprises in China’s titanium dioxide industry that possesses a complete industrial chain covering \"ilmenite-titanium slag-titanium dioxide,\" it utilizes the resources available along this entire chain to develop a comprehensive production system that ranges from the extraction of raw minerals and the production of titanium slag to the manufacturing of titanium dioxide via chlorination methods. Guotai Nano focuses on the research, development, and production of high-performance titanium dioxide, with its products including high-titanium slag, titanium tetrachloride, titanium dioxide pigment, and high-purity titanium dioxide. In 2020, Guotai Nano invested 1.743 billion yuan in a titanium dioxide production project, adopting an advanced chlorination process with a planned total production capacity of 300,000 tons. This project employs internationally leading full-chain chlorination process technology and advanced automated control systems, ensuring precise management throughout the entire process from raw material input to the final product, thereby greatly improving production efficiency and quality stability. During the project construction process, the Guotai Nanotechnology team continuously explored new processing methods and technical approaches. Thanks to advanced technical equipment and scientific management, it succeeded in overcoming numerous technical challenges associated with mass production. At the beginning of September this year, GT Nano’s first titanium dioxide product produced by the chlorination method, GR-901, was launched. GR-901 is a multi-functional, general-purpose titanium dioxide produced using the chlorination process, and it features a zirconium and aluminum coating as well as organic and micronization surface treatments. It boasts excellent properties such as a uniform particle size distribution, a blue base phase, high brightness, high gloss, good dispersibility, high weather resistance, and multiple functional capabilities, and is widely used in industries such as coatings, inks, papermaking, and plastics. According to Fan Huichao, general manager of Guoti Nano, during the project planning and construction phase, systems for treating wastewater and waste residues were installed to enable the comprehensive reuse of emissions from electric furnaces and waste heat. Meanwhile, the 13.5MW distributed photovoltaic power plant built on the factory roof began generating electricity at the end of April this year, achieving a win-win situation in terms of economic benefits and environmental protection. Once stable mass production of this project is achieved, Bengtou Group will urge Guoti Nano to accelerate the planning and implementation of the second phase of its titanium dioxide project.
