The complete set of technologies for producing aromatics from methanol developed by the Shanghai Research Institute has passed evaluation. Recently, the project titled “Pilot-scale study on the 36,000 tons/year technology for producing aromatics from methanol (S-MTA)”, led by the Shanghai Research Institute of Petrochemicals, passed the evaluation organized by the Science and Technology Department of Sinopec Group. The S-MTA technology suite developed for this project features stable catalyst performance and high aromatics yield, with its technical parameters generally at the international leading level. The successful development of this technology provides a basis for the design of million-ton-scale S-MTA systems and their engineering design, laying a solid foundation for promoting the clean utilization of coal resources in China and advancing the technology for the efficient production of aromatics using coal as a substitute for oil. On June 22, the research project on low-CO combustion in the low-temperature furnace chamber of heating furnaces successfully passed the technical appraisal organized by the Science and Technology Department of Sinopec Group. This project was led by the Luoyang Technology R&D Center of Sinopec Refining & Chemical Engineering Group, in collaboration with China-Korea (Wuhan) Petrochemical. This technology significantly reduces the CO content in flue gas while ensuring that NOx levels remain within acceptable limits; it also improves the combustion stability of the heating furnace and the efficiency of fuel utilization. The overall level of this technology is at the international advanced stage, and it holds broad application prospects. It is recommended to accelerate the promotion and application of these achievements.
