How to conduct a gas-tightness test when an ethylene plant is put into operation for the first time? By how many times the design pressure is the test pressure applied? Should it still be suppressed by work pressure? Also, whether the medium used is air or nitrogen – does your company have specialized compressors for pressure testing?
The airtightness test pressure is based on the design pressure.

The airtightness test checks the tightness of the testing system, using a design pressure test. Use a suitable medium to determine whether your system is sensitive to water and oil in the air; if your pipelines have been treated and cleaned, nitrogen is an appropriate choice as it can reduce the time required for startup and purging. If there is no compressor, an air compressor truck can be used
The tricky problem is that the unit does not have nitrogen at a pressure of over 10 Mpa; I wonder if an air compressor can generate a pressure of over 10 Mpa
In the case of the ammonia synthesis production process, how is the issue addressed at pressures above 10 Mpa? Obviously, using a syngas compressor is not appropriate.
If the corresponding gas source is not available, it is necessary to consult the designers. The maximum output of the three main units is around 37 kilograms, which is sufficient to meet the requirements for airtightness. Moreover, our system also has HN as an option; I recall that during the airtightness testing, LN, HN, and factory air were all used, so there was no need to employ a pyrolysis gas compressor as a power source.
