Is MTBE the gas phase? I searched on Baidu but still didn’t understand it; it couldn’t be found
The gas fraction generally refers to the liquefied gas component produced by conventional catalytic cracking units. It first passes through a gas separation unit (where carbon dioxide and carbon pentane are removed, and carbon tetrahydrocarbons, propane, and propylene are separated with high purity), after which it enters an MTBE unit to further remove the isobutylene component. The remaining carbon tetrahydrocarbon fraction, rich in butenes and isobutane, is an excellent raw material for alkylation units. Main products of the gas fraction: propane, propylene, tetrahydrocarbons before ether formation; main products of MTBE: MTBE, tetrahydrocarbons after ether formation. Products from the alkylation unit are: isooctane, n-butane
Gas fractionation refers to the separation of gases; it is used to separate liquefied petroleum gas, with the main products being propylene and propane, as well as the C4 components. MTBE stands for methyl tert-butyl ether, which is a product of the reaction between isobutylene and methanol; Alkylation is the product of the reaction between isobutane and n-butylene. In simple terms, their relationship is such that isobutylene in the C4 fraction of the gaseous products can be used as a raw material for MTBE, while isobutane in the MTBE products can be used as a raw material for alkylation
