Recently, the localization upgrade of the DCS system for the core control unit of Unit 2’s high-pressure facility at Maoming Petrochemical’s polyolefin department was successfully completed. This marked the first time in China that a DCS system based on the Basel high-pressure tubular process was put into operation domestically, filling a gap in this field in the country. This renovation uses the domestic Zhejiang University Zhongkong ECS-700 system to fully replace the original imported Honeywell system. This process is highly technically challenging and requires strict safety standards; the modification involves 2,700 I/O points, hundreds of complex logical interlocks, and 49 sequence control programs, with no prior precedents for similar domestic modifications available. The technical approaches and practical experience developed through this renovation will provide a replicable and scalable model for the domestic upgrading of similar high-voltage devices in China, while also injecting strong momentum into the group company’s second phase of development.
