On March 16, the civil engineering work for Sinopec’s Tianjin Nangang ethylene project commenced, marking the official start of the construction phase for this cluster of projects. On the same day, the \"Guo Si Set\" unit of the Tianjin Nangang ethylene project, constructed by Sinopec 10th Construction Company, began operations. Responsible officials from entities such as Sinopec Tianjin Branch, Sinopec Guangzhou Engineering Co., Ltd., Zhenhai Petrochemical Engineering Co., Ltd., Hubei Xingsifang Engineering Management Co., Ltd., and Beijing Huaxia Petrochemical Engineering Supervision Co., Ltd., along with employees from the company’s Tianjin project team, attended the commencement ceremony. The Tianjin Nangang Ethylene Project is a key construction project for the group company, and the company has been tasked with constructing 11 unit installations as part of this project. Among them, the \"National Phase IV\" project includes a 600,000 tons per year pyrolysis gasoline hydrogenation unit, a 380,000 tons per year aromatic extraction unit, a 150,000 tons per year butadiene extraction unit, and a 13/40,000 tons per year MTBE/butylene-1 unit. The construction of this project is affected by various unfavorable factors such as a large number of sites involved, complex geological conditions, and difficulties in ensuring safety control. The Tianjin Nangang 1.2 million tons per year ethylene project has a total investment of 60.3 billion yuan. It is a major project aimed at advancing the strategy for coordinated development in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, and its construction was officially launched in May 2021. The project cluster consists of 11 projects, including key initiatives such as the Tianjin Nangang ethylene and downstream high-end new materials industry cluster, the pilot production base of the Beijing Research Institute of Chemical Technology, Great Wall Lubricants, the catalyst production base, the LNG expansion project, the scientific experiment base of the China Petroleum and Petrochemical Science Research Institute, the achievement transformation center of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, photovoltaic new energy projects, and the petrochemical e-commerce platform. As the leader of this project cluster, the Nangang Ethylene Project takes a 1.2 million tons per year ethylene production facility as its core, aiming to reach world-class standards, fill gaps in China’s manufacturing sector, and replace imported products. The industrial chain is further expanded through the construction of 12 advanced new material production facilities for ultra-high molecular weight materials, α-olefins, ALL-PE, ABS, POE, HDPE, and other products. It is understood that the Nangang ethylene plant is expected to be completed by 2023, with the entire project complex set to be finished by 2025.

Transition toward the chemical industry: 600,000 tons/year pyrolysis gasoline hydrogenation unit, 380,000 tons/year aromatic extraction unit, 150,000 tons/year butadiene extraction unit, 13/4 million tons/year MTBE/butylene-1 unit
The 1.2 million tons per year ethylene project in Tianjin Nangang – is this a crude oil cracking project? ? ?
Judging from the plan, it seems that it should be used as the starting point
It is obviously naphtha cracking. A 600,000-ton gasoline hydrogenation unit is paired with a 1.2 million-ton naphtha cracking facility; crude oil cracking is unlikely to involve such a large scale at once, and Mobil in Huizhou ultimately decided to opt for the naphtha cracking route.
Gasoline hydrogenation represents the largest volume.
The raw materials are naphtha and hydrogenation tail oil from Tianjin Refining & Chemical.
