Recently, the 600,000-ton/year heavy oil catalytic cracking unit of Sinochem Hongrun Petrochemical Co., Ltd., for which CNPC East China Institute was responsible, was successfully commissioned for the first time following its catalyst regeneration and optimization upgrade. The product parameters met all design requirements, and the unit operated stably and under control; thus, the catalyst regeneration unit was successfully brought online for the first time! The renovation of the 600,000 tons/year heavy oil catalytic cracking unit utilized proprietary technologies developed by our institute, such as high-efficiency pre-lifters, direct connection techniques for coarse and top spirals, efficient grid stripping, and enhanced coking treatment in the regenerator. These technologies successfully addressed issues such as severe coking in the unit before the renovation, unstable fluidization in the stripping section, and incomplete combustion in the regenerator’s dilute phase, ensuring the unit’s efficient, safe, and stable operation. After operation begins, the stripping section of the settler can achieve automatic, precise, and stable control ; The fluctuation in the exit temperature of the riser can be kept within ±1°C ; Before the modification, the radial temperature difference in the regenerator’s dilute phase was >10°C; after the modification, it was ≯5°C℃ ; The radial temperature difference in the dense phase bed of the regenerator is around 1°C, showing very significant results from the renovation. With a tight schedule and significant tasks, in the face of various difficulties, the project promptly organized its team to conduct thorough analysis and careful research, went to the site to assess the installation conditions and existing issues, and refined the design inputs as well as the level 3 and level 4 plans ; Xie Keqian, the technical expert from the institute, got involved early on to grasp the key technical aspects and the direction of the renovation ; Party members have set an example by taking the lead, fully demonstrating the advanced nature and exemplary role of Party members. All team members worked overtime, overcame numerous difficulties, and succeeded in overcoming various challenges such as those related to epidemic prevention and control. As a result, they lived up to expectations and ensured that the project was completed on time with high quality.
