Recently, the 400,000-ton/year acrylonitrile plant at Sinopec Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Co., Ltd., which utilizes proprietary technology from the Shanghai Research Institute of Petrochemical Technology (referred to as the Shanghai Institute), was successfully commissioned after a single feeding operation. At present, the unit is operating smoothly, continuously producing qualified acrylonitrile products, with all technical parameters meeting the design requirements. This facility is the largest acrylonitrile plant of its kind in the world to date, and its successful commissioning marks a leap forward in China Petrochemical’s large-scale acrylonitrile production technology. In recent years, the Shanghai Institute has developed the S-ANT acrylonitrile technology package with independent intellectual property rights and successfully brought it into industrial application. It has been used in multiple large-scale acrylonitrile plants across the country, yielding significant economic and social benefits. To further enhance the economies of scale of the facilities and strengthen Sinopec’s technical advantages in the acrylonitrile industry, the Shanghai Research Institute has developed a new generation of large-scale acrylonitrile production technology package with an annual capacity of 400,000 tons, which has been put into industrial use at Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Co., Ltd. This technology has successfully enabled the expansion of acrylonitrile production facilities. The efficient acrylonitrile catalyst developed features high yields, excellent stability, and good pressure resistance, which reduces the energy consumption required for facility design and further improves environmental performance.
