The first geothermal heating project of China National Petroleum Coalbed Methane Company in the Maquan Middle School area of Xianyang City has seen all 11 geothermal wells come online successfully. To date, since the project was connected to the grid nearly a month ago, its operation has been stable, with an instantaneous heat supply of 108 gigajoules per hour. This marks a breakthrough of zero for the company in the field of geothermal resource development. Since obtaining the geothermal mining rights for this area, the Coalbed Methane Company’s Pipeline Division promptly launched a \"100-Day Intensive Campaign\" to tackle the task. During this critical period of winter heating, the construction team overcame challenges such as working in frozen soil at low temperatures and keeping equipment insulated from freezing, in order to advance the work promptly. The drill operator remained at his post in sub-zero temperatures of over -10 degrees Celsius, technicians carefully verified the data, and the logistics team worked round the clock to supply heating equipment, ensuring that the project could be put into operation on schedule. In the advancement of the project, the coalbed methane company leveraged technological innovation to optimize well design through activities such as drilling and core sampling, as well as geoelectromagnetic surveying. It also introduced the innovative use of modular heat exchange stations, thereby establishing a technical framework for the development of medium-deep geothermal resources that focuses on optimizing well patterns in cluster formations and achieving hydraulic balance in collective extraction and injection processes. Meanwhile, the innovative dual-management model has created a replicable and scalable “coalbed methane model” for the large-scale and standardized development of medium- and deep-geothermal resources.
