Another million-ton ethylene project comes online!

On April 4, Wanhua Chemical announced that on April 3, the 1.2 million tons per year ethylene production facility at Wanhua Chemical’s Yantai industrial park successfully produced qualified ethylene products, marking a successful first operation of the second phase of this project. 　　The announcement states that the project uses naphtha and ethane as raw materials, and by optimizing resource allocation it creates new forms of productive capacity, thereby enhancing the competitiveness and profitability of the industrial chain. 　　According to previous announcements by Wanhua Chemical, the second-phase project covers an area of approximately 1,215 mu, and it will mainly include a 1.2 million tons per year ethylene cracking unit, a 250,000 tons per year low-density polyethylene (LDPE) plant, 2 × 200,000 tons per year POE plants, a 200,000 tons per year butadiene plant, a 550,000 tons per year cracked gasoline hydrogenation unit (including a 30,000 tons per year styrene extraction unit), a 400,000 tons per year aromatic extraction plant, as well as various supporting infrastructure and utilities.
