Replacing imported Pall filters, domestically produced metal-sintered filters have been fully integrated into Sinopec’s system – the Chinese solution for high-temperature purification. The core principle of S-Zorb technology: to reduce the sulfur content in gasoline to levels well below the specified emission standards (≤10 ppm), without compromising the olefin content in gasoline. Basic process: 1. FCC cracked gasoline is mixed with hydrogen and fed into the adsorption reactor ; 2. Under conditions of 350–450°C and 0.5–2.0 MPa, organic sulfides in gasoline react with a **special adsorbent (Zorb catalyst)** ; 3. Sulfur is captured by the adsorbent and forms metal sulfides ; 4. The sulfur is oxidized to SO₂ through a regeneration system (by introducing air or dilute oxygen gas) and discharged, while the adsorbent is regenerated ; 5. Reuse in a cyclic manner to achieve continuous desulfurization. Therefore, the S-Zorb process can be regarded as an adsorption-regeneration cycle desulfurization system, which is widely used in numerous refineries owned by Sinopec in China. Given the harsh operating conditions and the high standards regarding stability and service life, there are very few domestic manufacturers of S-zorb filters within Sinopec’s framework at present; Shaoguan Berry Filtration Technology Co., Ltd. is one of them.
