Petrobras announced on the 2nd that the Buzios Phase 6 project in Brazil, in which China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) has a stake and is involved in its construction, will officially come online on December 31, 2025, local time. The project is located in the Santos Basin in the southeastern part of Brazil, at water depths of 1,900 to 2,200 meters, and adopts a deep-water subsea development model of \"floating production, storage, and offloading unit + underwater production system\". The project is designed with a daily crude oil production capacity of about 25,000 tons, and a daily natural gas processing capacity of 7.2 million cubic meters. With the commissioning of Phase 6, the daily production capacity of the Buzius field will exceed 1.15 million barrels per day. Louis Schmal, general manager of the Buzios field at Petrobras, said that the floating production, storage and offloading unit for Phase 6 not only boasts excellent production capacity, but also employs technologies such as heat recovery and closed-flame torches to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions, thereby significantly improving energy efficiency and cutting carbon output. It is a successful example of close cooperation and outstanding execution between Brazil and China. Huang Yehua, General Manager of CNOOC Brazil, said that CNOOC is actively promoting cooperation with Brazil in the development of ultra-deepwater oil fields, aiming to achieve coordinated progress in oil and gas resource development, technological innovation, and green, low-carbon transformation.
