According to Sinochem New Network, recently, Continental Resources Corporation signed an asset purchase agreement with Bama Energy, whereby it will acquire the non-operating interests in 4 blocks in the Vaca Muerta shale area in Argentina. This is another step in Continental Resources’ expansion in Argentina, aimed at further strengthening its presence in this important global unconventional oil and gas basin. The financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed. The assets acquired this time are located in the Neuquén Basin and will still be operated by Pemex Energy. Last November, the company signed an agreement to acquire the operating rights for Block II West in Los Toldos, demonstrating its strategy of establishing a long-term presence in Huacamurta through a combination of operational and non-operational activities. The president and CEO of Continental Resources said that Vaca Muerta is one of the most attractive shale regions in the world, and the company looks forward to making further investments in Argentina through this partnership. The CEO of Bamei Energy said that this partnership is aimed at advancing the development of four blocks, with Continental Resources bringing its technical expertise to the project to help reduce risks and improve operational efficiency. Continental Resources stated that participating in the project as a non-operating party will enable the company to share knowledge in areas such as reservoir characterization, development planning, well completion design, operational practices, and infrastructure construction, thereby accelerating the understanding of the basin and leveraging its experience gained from large-scale shale development in the United States. The company emphasizes that the recent series of transactions in Argentina are in line with its long-term value strategy of participating in the development of top-tier unconventional resources worldwide, reflecting the company’s long-term approach to resource development across different regions.
