The “methanol/gasoline coupled olefin production technology” developed by the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics passed the evaluation of scientific and technological achievements. On December 30, the “methanol/gasoline coupled olefin production technology”, which possesses independent intellectual property rights and was developed by the team led by Academician Liu Zhongmin from the Low-Carbon Catalysis and Engineering Research Center (DNL1200 group) at the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, passed the evaluation organized by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation. The evaluation meeting will be chaired by Wang Xiujiang, deputy director of the Department of Science, Technology and Equipment of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation. Academician He Mingyuan from East China Normal University will serve as chairman of the Scientific and Technological Achievements Evaluation Committee. Members of the committee include Academician Hu Yongkang from Sinopec (Dalian) Research Institute of Petrochemicals Co., Ltd., Academician Xu Chunming from China University of Petroleum (Beijing), Liu Qiang, vice general manager of Shandong Energy Group, Zhang Fei, deputy director of the Coal Chemicals Division of China National Coal Group, Researcher Wang Jianguo from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Bao Xiaojun from Fuzhou University, and Professor Wang Ye from Xiamen University. Li Xianfeng, deputy director of the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, along with relevant personnel from the research and administrative departments, attended the meeting. At the meeting, Researcher Ye Mao from Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics delivered a presentation titled “Technology for the Coupled Production of Olefins from Methanol/Gasoline,” in which he discussed the background and significance of the project, the research objectives and approaches, the study of catalysts and reaction processes, the pilot-scale tests on a thousand-ton scale, the innovative aspects of the technology, and an analysis of its application prospects. Researcher Li Jinzhe gave a report on “pilot studies and catalyst scale-up”. Senior Engineer Zhang Tao presented the “Report on the Amplification Test”. Researcher Wang Jianguo gave a report on the on-site assessment results. The experts from the evaluation committee carefully reviewed the relevant evaluation materials and novelty search reports, and held in-depth discussions with the R&D team on technical issues and the prospects for technological applications. Finally, the experts of the evaluation committee unanimously agreed that this achievement is highly innovative, possesses independent intellectual property rights, and reaches an internationally leading level. It was unanimously agreed to approve the evaluation. The team proposed and developed a technology route for the coupled production of olefins from methanol and gasoline, utilizing molecular sieve catalysts to achieve the coupled conversion of these two feedstocks into ethylene, propylene, and butylene products ; The development and scale-up production of a catalyst for the coupled methanol/gasoline-based olefin synthesis were completed ; A high-performance fluidized bed reactor was developed, pilot-scale and process tests were carried out, with a total operating time of over 500 hours; the basic data required for preparing the process package was obtained, laying the foundation for the design of industrial production facilities. This technology couples methanol and gasoline to produce products such as olefins, offering a new approach for the transformation and upgrading of the petrochemical industry, as well as for the integrated development of petroleum chemistry and coal chemistry, and holds significant potential for application.
