Recently, Shandong Energy Qixiang Tengda has made use of inventory optimization as a key strategy to carry out technical upgrades to its plant with an annual production capacity of 400,000 tons of tert-butanol; as a result, the plant capable of producing 70,000 tons of anhydrous tert-butanol per year has been able to operate at full capacity, marking a significant step forward in the field of high-end fine chemicals. In the face of the cyclical adjustments in the chemical industry, Qixiang Tengda has conducted a thorough analysis of the industry to identify its strengths and weaknesses. It has developed a series of plans for optimizing existing assets, tapped into the potential of current production facilities, improved the configuration of utility systems, and continued to enhance efficiency and productivity. The company is also actively exploring new paths for industrial transformation and upgrading. By expanding its industrial chain, it continues to develop new products with stronger technical advantages, lower carbon emissions and a higher added value from their manufacturing processes, thereby enhancing the overall value and competitiveness of its assets. The anhydrous tert-butanol plant that has been upgraded this time represents a strategic upgrade aimed at high-value-added applications in downstream industries. The application areas of anhydrous tert-butanol have expanded beyond those of traditional solvents, gradually extending into high-end fields such as high-purity electronic-grade materials, bio-based materials, and pharmaceutical intermediates. It is used in areas like electronics and semiconductor cleaning as well as in the synthesis of vaccine adjuvants, and its demand is experiencing rapid growth. At present, Qixiang Tengda has established a diversified and integrated industrial chain centered around methyl ethyl ketone and maleic anhydride, covering more than 30 products such as propylene oxide, acrylic acid, nitrile latex, and synthetic rubber. The project to produce 8,000 tons per year of high-performance catalytic new materials is also progressing steadily. In the future, it will give rise to a high-performance catalyst industry base that integrates petrochemical and coal chemical technologies, thereby facilitating the domestic substitution of high-end catalysts.
