According to Sinochem New Network, on January 7, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) announced that it had made a final investment decision regarding the SARB deep gas development project. The project is located in the Ghasha concession off the coast of Abu Dhabi, and its goal is to achieve a daily natural gas production of 200 million standard cubic feet from 4 wells; the produced gas will be transported to Das Island for processing. Musaabe Al Kabbi, CEO of ADNOC Upstream, said the project is part of a comprehensive effort to develop Abu Dhabi’s high-quality natural gas resources and support the UAE’s strategy for natural gas self-sufficiency. The deep natural gas reserves in this area are located in high-temperature and high-pressure rock formations at depths of over 4,500 meters, requiring specialized drilling and completion techniques. The project will construct a new offshore platform, utilizing the remaining transmission capacity of the existing undersea pipeline network to keep costs under control. The platform will be remotely controlled from Alzana Island, reflecting the trend toward digitalization in offshore operations. The Ghasha concession area is the core of Abu Dhabi’s comprehensive natural gas development plan, with the Hail and Ghasha gas fields expected to achieve a total daily production of 1.8 billion standard cubic feet by 2050. The final investment decision for the SARB project also lays the foundation for further licensing and exploration activities in the region.
