International Energy Agency raises forecast for oil demand growth in 2026

　　The International Energy Agency released its latest monthly report on the 21st, predicting that global oil demand will increase by 930,000 barrels per day in 2026, which is higher than the 860,000 barrels per day forecast in the monthly report issued last December. The report also notes that in 2026, all growth in global oil demand will still come from non-OECD countries. 　　The report predicts that global crude oil supply will increase by 2.5 million barrels per day by 2026, reaching 108.7 million barrels. The report indicates that in January of this year, due to factors such as the situations in Iran and Venezuela, the price of benchmark crude oil rose by $6 per barrel at one point; however, as geopolitical tensions eased, oil prices began to fall starting from mid-month. The report states that the global economy has adapted to and recovered from the excessive tariffs imposed by the United States in 2025, and oil prices have fallen compared to the same period last year; these factors have contributed to an increase in global oil demand. 　　According to Reuters, global oil supply is expected to exceed demand by 3.69 million barrels per day this year, a slight reduction from the earlier estimated surplus level.
