Recently, the feasibility study reports for Harbin Petrochemical Company’s 800,000 tons per year jet fuel production project and the technical upgrade project aimed at overcoming production bottlenecks in the production of National VIB gasoline were approved, marking the entry of these two key projects into the implementation phase. “During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the domestic refined oil market showed a trend of slower growth in gasoline, lower growth in diesel, and faster growth in aviation fuel, while the petrochemical industry is moving toward a direction of reducing oil production and increasing chemical products, as well as reducing oil production and increasing specialty products. In order to build itself into a high-quality refining and chemical enterprise in a modern city, Harbin Petrochemical Company is actively advancing the construction of key projects outlined in its 14th Five-Year Plan. **The 13th Five-Year Plan for the Revitalization of the Northeast identifies Harbin Taiping International Airport as the sole international aviation hub in the Northeast region. Taiping International Airport is under expansion and is scheduled to be completed in 2024. Harbin Petrochemical Company owns the only jet fuel pipeline that leads directly to Taiping International Airport, giving it competitive advantages in terms of safety, speed, and efficiency. The Haha Petrochemical project team conducted in-depth research on the potential of various units, and developed specific plans to increase the production of aviation fuel for the atmospheric distillation, hydrocracking, and diesel hydrogenation units. They also prepared the \"Feasibility Study Report for the 800,000 tons/year aviation fuel production capacity expansion project.\" With the approval of this project, Haha Petrochemical’s production and transportation capacity for aviation fuel will both reach 800,000 tons per year, meeting the expansion needs of Taiping International Airport. As the main supplier of refined oil products in Harbin and its surrounding areas, Harbin Petrochemical Company has always attached great importance to and kept up with the pace of product quality improvement. The technical renovation project to overcome the production bottlenecks for National VIB gasoline involves converting a 100,000-ton benzene extraction unit into a 200,000-ton/year diphenyl extraction unit, in order to extract benzene and toluene from gasoline and supply them to nearby enterprises ; At the same time, the production capacity of MTBE (methyl tert-butyl ether) was increased from 50,000 tons per year to 90,000 tons per year; the raw materials used in carbon tetrahydrocarbon processing units such as those for methylethylene and alkylation were optimized, and MTBE products were able to be exported. Once the project is completed and operational, it will reduce the total amount of gasoline produced, while increasing the production and sales of higher-grade gasoline as well as chemical products, thus taking a solid step forward in the direction of \"reducing gasoline use while increasing chemical production and specialty products and improving efficiency\". At present, in line with Harbin Petrochemical’s plan to build a jet fuel and C4 processing base in the Harbin and surrounding areas during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the project team is accelerating the implementation of these two projects. Meanwhile, preliminary work such as feasibility studies for projects related to technological upgrades of catalytic units to reduce oil output and increase product yield, as well as the development of bio-jet fuel, is being carried out in an orderly manner.
