Aiming to become a powerhouse in the petrochemical industry, efforts to advance the “Double Seven” project are being intensified. According to reports from Sinochem News, on February 5th, the 2026 annual work conference for the organizations under the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation was held in Beijing. The purpose of this conference was to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the 20th Plenary Session of the Communist Party, to fully carry out the directives given by the Central Department of Social Work and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to industry associations, to review the work done in 2025, and to plan tasks for 2026, thereby ensuring a solid start for the high-quality development of the petrochemical industry during the 15th Five-Year Plan period. Li Yunpeng, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Sinopec United, delivered a work report. Wang Zhong, Deputy Director of the Raw Materials Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, as well as members of the Party and administrative leadership team of Sinopec United, attended the meeting. Li Yunpeng noted that looking back at the work done in 2025, Sinopec coordinated the advancement of Party building alongside business operations, carrying out the \"Seven Initiatives and Seven Platforms\" – the \"Double Seven\" project – and achieving significant results in terms of service improvement and standardized development. First, the leading role of Party building has been significantly strengthened. Second, the capacity for policy research and planning development is gradually improving. Third, the operation monitoring and early warning system continues to be improved. Fourth, significant breakthroughs have been achieved in technological innovation and the transformation of research results. Fifth, the foundation for green, low-carbon, and safe development continues to be strengthened. Sixth, the role of standard guidance and quality improvement is effectively exerted. Seventh, the impact of international exchanges and open cooperation is steadily expanding. Eighth, inspection and rectification efforts help improve the quality and efficiency of internal governance. “However, we must also be fully aware that the reform and development of Sinopec United still face numerous challenges. It is necessary to acknowledge our shortcomings and confront these challenges head-on, and by adopting a clearer understanding, a more pragmatic approach, and more effective measures, we can standardize operations through rectification efforts and improve performance through innovation, thereby truly transforming Sinopec United’s political and organizational advantages into practical benefits that serve the industry and drive its development. ”Li Yunpeng emphasized. Li Yunpeng noted that by 2026, Sinopec Group will adhere to the general principle of making progress while maintaining stability, focus on high-quality development as its core goal. By leveraging the construction of the “Double Seven” projects as a driving force, and by emphasizing the need to change mindsets, improve work styles, enhance services, and improve the organization’s image, it will also push forward with pilot programs aimed at optimizing the structure of associations within the group. It will coordinate party building with business development, establish high-level industry think tanks, and carry out three key initiatives: promoting efforts aligned with the “dual carbon” goals, addressing excessive competition, and improving outcomes resulting from inspections. Additionally, it will focus on three important tasks: establishing standards, integrating production and innovation, and upgrading industrial parks. It will also strengthen its domestic and international brand initiatives through conferences. With a spirit of self-reform and a pragmatic approach, the group will strive to ensure a good start for the petrochemical industry during the 15th Five-Year Plan period. Wang Zhong highly praised the achievements made by Sinopec Lian in 2025 in areas such as capacity forecasting, plan formulation, policy development, standard system establishment, industry operation, and chemical industrial parks. Wang Zhong suggested that more effort should be put into the breadth, depth, and quality of the work. To elevate the quality of work, it is necessary to raise the political awareness: on the one hand, implement the central government’s decisions and plans regarding the advancement of new-type industrialization, and on the other hand, carry out the relevant decisions and plans concerning the reform and development of industry associations and chambers of commerce. Depth in work means conducting thorough industry research, understanding the situation within the industry, and coming up with more insightful opinions. To bring warmth to work means fulfilling the responsibilities of industry associations, meeting the requirements of the “four services,” and delivering better-quality services. Fu Xiangsheng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of Sinopec, presided over the meeting. At the meeting, representatives from relevant departments of Sinopec, professional associations, and enterprises and institutions delivered exchange speeches. More than 150 people attended the meeting, including members of the Party Committee of Sinopec, the secretary-general and deputy secretaries-general, heads of various branches, all staff members of the headquarters departments, as well as key leaders of various professional associations (societies, research organizations) and enterprises and institutions.
