ConocoPhillips plans to sell some of its Permian Basin assets

　　According to Sinochem New Network, ConocoPhillips recently announced that it is exploring the sale of some of its assets in the Permian Basin as part of a broader plan to streamline its portfolio. These assets acquired through the purchase of Concho Resources and Shell are expected to be sold for around $2 billion and are located in the rapidly growing Delaware Sub-basin area of the Permian Basin in West Texas and New Mexico. 　　ConocoPhillips is working with consultants to find a buyer, and it is expected to attract interest from strategic buyers and private equity investors. The sale of these assets is part of ConocoPhillips’ initial plan to divest around $2 billion in assets, which was established following its acquisition of Marathon Oil for $17 billion in 2024. The company announced in August last year that it would double its target to $5 billion. 　　Since the beginning of 2023, the U.S. shale **industry has experienced a wave of consolidation worth over $450 billion, with operators seeking to sell smaller assets to help repay debts. ConocoPhillips’ operations extend from Alaska to Australia; it is continuously optimizing its portfolio by shedding assets with slower growth rates, while increasing investment in drilling opportunities with high returns.
