Aster Chemicals & Energy expands its ethylene cracking complex in Singapore

Recently, Aster Chemicals & Energy made a final investment decision regarding a project to expand the ethylene export capacity of its ethylene cracking complex in Singapore, with an investment amount of 80 million dollars. Engineering design and construction contracts have been awarded to multiple partners, among which Toyo Engineering Co., Ltd. and UTOC Engineering Pte Ltd. are the two key partners. The contract covers the installation of a parallel ethylene refrigeration system as well as the expansion of the ethylene export logistics in the Wukong area. The project is scheduled for completion in 2027. Upon completion, it will double Wuku’s ethylene export capacity and further integrate Wuku with Chandra Asri’s cracker facility in Cilegon, thereby strengthening the end-to-end value chain for C2 derivatives between the two locations. Mashhad Dohadwala, Project and Technology Director at Aster, said that as demand for ethylene grows in Asia, Singapore’s role as a reliable and high-capacity export source holds significant commercial and strategic importance.
