What is the cause of broken shaft? Overloaded? The fracture seems to be welded, not the entire solid shaft, right?
The picture shows that the entire shaft has been sheared, and there are no traces of corrosion on the surface (but intergranular corrosion cannot be ruled out). It should have been sheared by an instant overload.
Let me tell you, the lubrication is not good, the inner ring of the bearing holding the shaft is partially overheated and the shaft is twisted and broken.
It seems that the marks on the gear are caused by overload. Carefully check whether the meshing surface of the gear is damaged.
