I have a question for everyone: With the Sulzer pumps used in our equipment, when they are used as standby pumps, the liquid level in the seal oil tank rises rapidly; the oil needs to be drained every 10–12 hours. The situation improves after replacing the heat transfer oil with QC310, as the rise in the seal oil tank’s liquid level slows down; However, a few days later, the rise in the liquid level in the seal oil tank will gradually accelerate. What is causing this problem? (The pump’s mechanical seal was manufactured by John Crane; the medium used in the pump is reformed refined oil, and the plant has been in operation for just two months.)

Regarding plan53, the nitrogen pressure is insufficient; it should generally be 0.5 kilograms higher than the pressure of the medium, otherwise there may be leakage in the seal
It is possible that the transmission medium has entered the seal oil tank, or that the mechanical seal of the standby pump is leaking.
Of course, the seal is leaking. And since it’s a model 53, what should be the nitrogen pressure setting?
The pressure in the PLAN53B sealed tank is maintained by an air bag; the current situation, where the liquid level in the sealed tank is rising, indicates that the pressure from the air bag is insufficient – it is lower than the pressure within the sealing chamber – which leads to leakage and the flow of liquid into the sealed tank. If the pressure of the air bag in the sealing tank is within the appropriate range, and there is a seal leak, the liquid level in the sealing tank will drop

53B? Unit 53B doesn’t even have a seal oil tank; it’s probably Unit 53A
