The centrifuge features a primary drum and a secondary drum; the diameter of the primary drum is 500 mm, while that of the secondary drum is 438 mm. Filter screens are located around both drums, as designed by the original manufacturer. Each cylindrical filter screen consists of 16 smaller sections. There is a proposal to modify these screens by combining them into 4 sections or using a single integrated unit. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this modification compared to the original design? Can its filtering performance be improved?
Your machine is a P50 centrifuge, and it can be modified without any problem – by reducing the width of the sieve bars, increasing the number of sieve slots, and raising the porosity rate. This approach can reduce the cost of the entire sieve mesh while also enabling faster installation
The reduced back width of the screen strips increases the number of screen slots and the opening rate, allowing for quick installation of the entire screen ring.
