Our unit uses Hangzhou Steam Turbines. We have already activated both sets of vacuum pumps for evacuation; at that time it was possible to achieve a low vacuum level. However, after a few days, the absolute pressure of the exhaust gas started to rise, the temperature of the condensate also increased, and there was overflow from the water seal. I’m asking if any of you experts in this field can help us out
1. Has the vacuum system been checked? 2. Is the condensate temperature rising? What is the quality of the steam?
It is recommended to isolate one of the extraction steam coolers for inspection; there may be a blockage on the cooling water side
The vacuum level increased, and the temperature of the condensate rose as well; however, the water seal started to overflow. This shouldn’t be related, so it is recommended to check the atmospheric safety valve.
It is usually a problem with the exhaust pump; its pumping capacity has decreased due to things like leaks in the copper pipes, scaling, or changes in the position of the nozzle.
How long has the unit been in operation? Check whether the saturated temperatures corresponding to the pressures are the same; it’s possible that there is water accumulation in the pressure gauge’s pressure lead. Has the problem been resolved now?
It is generally caused by a clogged surface cooler or structural issues.
