Is it harmful to inject hydrogen into the flare gas compressor?

We are a set of hydrogenation units. Normally, the flare gas consists of dry gas and liquefied gas components. However, when hydrogen is not available during operation, it is sent to the flare tank. The flare gas compressor needs to be fed with hydrogen from time to time. Since hydrogen has a very low specific gravity, will this cause damage to the compressor? I heard from my supervisor that it’s not good for the compressor, but after thinking about it for a long time I still can’t figure it out. The flare gas compressor is a reciprocating compressor with two stages of compression. :handshake
The design of valves for hydrogen and light hydrocarbon gases is different. Depending on the specific heat capacity of the medium, the amount of water required for circulation in the cylinder also varies, right? The compression ratio is different too, right?
