Problems with the lubricating oil pressure of the compressor

My unit is an ammonia compressor of the piston type; it’s my first time using one. The technician explained that when the lubrication oil pressure in the compressor is low, the auxiliary oil pump will start automatically, and when the pressure drops even further, the compressor will shut down to protect itself. What factors determine the level of pressure in the compressor lubricating oil? Or after operating normally for a while, what causes the oil pressure to be too low? The operating condition of the main oil pump, whether there are leaks in the oil pipelines, whether the opening degrees of the control valves on the bypass pipelines are appropriate, and the size of the bearing clearances. The main reasons for a decrease in oil pressure include abnormal operation of the main oil pump, pipeline leaks, inappropriate opening degrees of the bypass pipeline control valves, large bearing clearances, high oil temperature, as well as oil emulsification or the presence of bubbles in the oil.
