You’re pretty much right; first do a leak test, then power it on to check for forward and reverse rotation as well as its operation.
Manually turn the shaft before starting to check for any jamming. For external flushing mechanical seals, it is necessary to ensure that the pressure and flow rate of the flushing water are normal, and that there is no leakage from the mechanical seal. Before starting the pump, close the outlet manual valve; after it starts, slowly open the outlet valve. Listen for any abnormal noises from the bearings, measure the vibration at the bearings, and check the outlet pressure, current, and flow rate. Check for leaks at all seals.
