Hello everyone, I’m starting this thread to specifically discuss the issues with current device management software. I searched the forums and found that larger companies have added equipment management modules to their ERP systems; however, I’m not very familiar with how they are actually used. For smaller and medium-sized enterprises, which are in a somewhat awkward situation, they either have to handle everything manually or opt for some management software. Everyone, what do your companies use? In chemical companies, safety, environmental protection, equipment, and processes are the key aspects in production; equipment accounts for a large portion of these aspects. But what work has been done regarding the overall equipment in these companies? Firstly, proper equipment planning and management not only saves time and effort but also ensures production continuity. Secondly, many tasks related to safety and environmental protection now involve equipment; numerous inspections also relate to equipment, and there are a great deal of registration and annual inspection procedures, with varying time requirements. Therefore, in this era where pursuing technology means boosting productivity, targeted equipment management software is an inevitable trend. Therefore, I’m starting this thread so that everyone can discuss it and gain an understanding of these issues. Through discussion, we can address two problems: first, figuring out which software is the best and fits modern device management concepts ； Second, it is to find out what the daily tasks are for each person’s equipment, so that everyone can identify any gaps in light of their own company’s situation, learn from others’ strengths, and overcome their own weaknesses. It makes work easier to handle, leads to outstanding results, and creates a safer and more environmentally friendly production environment for everyone. As for software, my knowledge isn’t that comprehensive yet; I’d like to share my own opinions. At present, there doesn’t seem to be any particularly outstanding device management software – maybe I just don’t know enough about it. I’ve asked in groups as well as searched online. I came across the StartPoint Device Management System, which appears quite frequently online, so I took a look at it. I am still learning about it. Equipment management software may face challenges due to the varying levels of knowledge among current technical personnel, as well as the diversity of many enterprises and the complexity of various security standards, fire safety regulations, equipment manufacturing standards, and so on. This results in poor software versatility, with most requiring customization. If there are people in the factory who have high computer skills and are very familiar with the equipment, then promotion should be feasible. Therefore, I believe that a better software should, first of all, have certain templates available, and the super administrator should be able to modify the style of these templates, as well as the fields related to components and the reports. In other words, the software provides guidance, allowing for corresponding adjustments to be made based on the individual company’s needs. Second, it is easy to operate; of course, by easy to operate I mean only for equipment managers. Thirdly, it would be better if various data query and calculation modules could be added. Fourthly, it would be even better if various standards could be incorporated, along with the ability to add corresponding device specifications. Fifth, the inspection reports submitted to the administrative authorities must be complete, and appropriate adjustments should be made based on local conditions. The above are my personal views; I hope everyone can offer corrections, additions, and discussions so that we can all improve together. Thank you! !
