The screw that was removed has a washer; one side of this washer is flat while the other side has an inwardly tapered pit. I’m not sure what purpose this pit serves, nor am I aware of the correct direction for installation. I hope experts on this forum can provide some guidance, preferably with diagrams to illustrate it. You must be referring to the disc spring gasket supported by the turbine oil motor. This wheel screw washer is not of that kind
Could you draw a cross-sectional view of the washer?
This reduces the stress on the nuts, and it can be seen on the diaphragm of the couplings in older Ingersoll Rand compressors
