Our company has a vertical reciprocating compressor manufactured by Hongshentei Gas. After a major repair, a new oil pump was installed; it was tested for less than 1 minute – the compressor was able to compress gas normally and the oil level was fine – but the oil pump started to overheat and emit smoke. This problem has never occurred before, and I’m at a loss as to what to do. I’m turning to the experts here to ask what could be the cause – is it a blockage in the oil circuit, or something else?
This situation may be caused by several factors: 1. Clogged oil passages: It is indeed possible that impurities or blockages in the oil passages cause the oil pump to operate at high temperatures. Check whether the oil circuit is unobstructed. 2. Oil pump installation issue: It may be that the installation location or method of the oil pump was incorrect during the major repair, resulting in abnormal operation. 3. Oil issues: Whether the oil being used meets the requirements of the compressor, or whether the oil has deteriorated due to improper storage or use. 4. Fault in the oil pump itself: The new oil pump installed may be defective or damaged. It is recommended to shut down the machine first, check the oil circuit and the installation of the oil pump, and replace the oil if necessary or repair/replace the oil pump.
