As shown in the figure, this pump inlet solenoid valve is used to break siphoning; will siphoning occur when the pump stops? It doesn’t matter even if the siphon outlet valve is closed; this solenoid valve is redundant, right?
What kind of pump is it? Is it a WFB type self-priming pump? If the siphon is not broken, the liquid in the tank will flow back into the pool; the next time the pump is started, liquid needs to be added to it
For ordinary centrifugal pumps, valves are installed at the inlet and outlet; once the pump is stopped and the valves are closed, there’s no risk of siphoning, right?
It is used when liquid needs to be drained, such as for pump maintenance
Of course it’s not unnecessary; control is necessary
Firstly, in the case of a vertical self-priming pump, this solenoid valve is used to break the siphon effect when the pump stops, thereby preventing water from flowing back into the tank. Secondly, vertical self-priming pumps do not have mechanical seals, and air can enter at the pump shaft. I personally recommend that you replace this pump; it has low efficiency, at only around 50%. There are two options for replacing the pump: one is to use a vacuum water intake tank in combination with a conventional pipeline pump, and the other is to replace it with a high-efficiency vertical self-priming pump that can achieve an efficiency of over 70%.
It’s hard to tell just by looking at this diagram; even if the pump has a check valve, high negative pressure and thin pipe walls may compress the pipeline at the pump inlet
