Hello everyone. Recently, I have several water pumps in my project that use single-stage high-efficiency energy-saving pumps. These pumps have a head of 120 meters and a flow rate of over 200. The impellers of these pumps are showing the following issues – what could be the cause? Could you help analyze it? Moreover, after running for a while, the impeller becomes significantly thinner.
In the welding, some areas are fully welded while others seem to have been welded using electric welding; this might be the reason for it. Also, if the check valve isn’t working properly, could it be due to water hammer backflow?
Water hammer caused the pump to reverse, but it wouldn’t have damaged the impeller to that extent
I think the stress at the weld joint wasn’t properly managed
There are two possibilities: one is that the viscosity of the production medium is high, and the water pump contains a large amount of sediment; Another issue is the quality problem of the impeller. Did the pump experience overcurrent during operation? If so, it might be due to an excessive amount of sludge. It’s better to consult the manufacturer.
The damage may be related to welding, while the significant thinning of the impeller is associated with the medium.
What is a medium? What about the temperature?
Corrosive particles in the working medium cause erosion and corrosion; the welds fail first. Check the manufacturing process, or use cast 316 impellers
