Why is no standby unit installed for the ethylene tri-machine? Is it not cost-effective to have a backup unit, compared to the losses caused by downtime due to each failure? Who can analyze it?

Where are the devices with three backup units each?
There is no reason for the three ethylene units not to be equipped with backup units, nor is any reason needed; there has never been any precedent for not providing such backup units. This is because it is constrained by various factors such as investment, land use, piping, oil circuits, leaks, maintenance, operation, instrument control, and so on. As mentioned on the third floor, the procedures and steps for switching to a backup machine and restarting the main machine are exactly the same; therefore, setting up a backup machine is unnecessary. Investing in a large set of power generation units requires a significant amount of money, and no one has that much money just lying around.
The selection and design of conventional ethylene tri-machine systems are already very mature approaches. Moreover, today’s compressors can operate stably and continuously for long periods of time, with no issues arising even over two years. On top of that, the inclusion of backup units increases the risk of leaks as well as the economic costs associated with regular maintenance

What they say is quite professional; to put it in simpler terms, for example, if you want to start up a turbine and a compressor, from the preparation work to starting them up and making adjustments, it takes some time. If there’s a problem with the machine that’s in operation, starting up the backup unit and stopping the operating unit before restarting it takes just as long.
