One motor bearing is damaged; the outer surface of the bearing’s inner ring is severely worn with pits, while the inner surface of the outer ring is intact. What could be the possible causes? Is it a lack of lubricant or bearing misalignment? Figures 1-4 show respectively the outer surface of the bearing inner ring, the inner surface of the bearing inner ring, the inner surface of the bearing outer ring, and the balls.
The reasons are: 1. Poor quality of bearing manufacturing; 2、Poor quality of grease ; 3. The lubricant application is not properly managed; it is only added when the lubricant runs out. 4. The quality of motor installation is poor, resulting in electrical erosion.
In my opinion, the cause of this phenomenon is first and foremost a problem with personnel management, and secondly a problem with equipment management. The problem with personnel management lies in the inadequate conduct of routine operational inspections; if damage is detected early, it is usually only in the bearings, and by taking action promptly, the equipment can be prevented from being damaged. Regarding the management of the equipment, damage due to lack of oil is evident. Regular maintenance, refueling, and lubrication of equipment are the most fundamental aspects of equipment management. It’s relatively minor if only the bearings are damaged; however, if there is shaft scoring or other issues, the damage will be much greater. For reference.
