Let’s give a thumbs up and cheer for the achievements made in China’s chemical technology and equipment industry. ********************** [Ten Years of Great Development in Chemical Equipment] This is a continuously updated summary thread; all are welcome to join the discussion: https://bbs.hcbbs.com/thread-3576046-1-1.html (Source: Haichuan Chemical Engineering Forum) ***************** The post-treatment system for Hengli Petrochemical (Dalian) New Materials Co., Ltd.’s first domestic polyoxymethylene (POM) production facility with a capacity of 80,000 tons per year, undertaken by Tianhua Research & Design Institute of Chemical Machinery and Automation Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as Tianhua Institute), has been successfully put into operation after just one attempt; the system is currently operating stably. It is understood that POM is an excellent engineering plastic and one of the world’s top five engineering plastics. Thanks to its good hardness, strength, rigidity, self-lubricating properties, and chemical resistance, it is widely used in fields such as electronics and electrical equipment, machinery, instrumentation, automobiles, and building materials. Currently, the POM production processes mainly include dry processes and wet processes. Compared to the dry process, the wet process offers advantages such as higher system stability and better product quality, which leads to its widespread use. Due to patented technologies, China has not fully mastered most of the key techniques and equipment involved in the wet process, which has left the country in a state of deficiency in this field and hindered the development of China’s polyoxymethylene industry. POM post-treatment technology is one of the key technologies in polyoxymethylene production facilities. As early as a decade ago, Tianhua Research Institute began researching and developing post-treatment systems for such facilities, and has since developed a series of process technologies and key equipment with independent intellectual property rights. In early 2022, Tianhua Institute and Hengli Petrochemical (Dalian) New Materials Co., Ltd. finalized the contract for the post-treatment system of the polyoxymethylene production facility, which includes systems for drying polyoxymethylene powder and recovering exhaust gases, a cooling system for POM powder, and a system for deep devolatilization of POM pellets. During the design process, the technical staff at Tianhua Institute were innovative and committed to excellence, completing the design and optimization of the entire system. The key equipment in the system – the steam rotary dryer, mixing cooler, and deep devolatilization tray dryer – are all manufactured by Tianhua Institute (Nanjing) Intelligent Manufacturing Co., Ltd. During the production process, the production staff met high standards and quality requirements, ensuring the rapid delivery of key equipment. In early March 2024, the post-treatment system of this POM plant was successfully commissioned with a single batch of feed, enabling the use of domestic-made technologies and equipment in the key processes of this POM plant. This represents another significant achievement in research and development by Tianhua Institute, following its advancements in areas such as polyphenylene oxide (PPO), adipic acid, bisphenol A, and ABS.
