I would like to ask where the point of engagement between the male and female screws in a screw compressor can be found. It would be great to have an actual image showing that point of engagement, as well as information on how to adjust it. I also need an image showing how the passive synchronization gears are adjusted. Thank you
Since the uses, designs, and models of such devices vary, there cannot be a unified standard. This must be carried out in accordance with the standards specified in the equipment installation manual, or those provided by the equipment manufacturer. Generally, this gap is fixed; as long as the bearing position is not damaged, it’s fine.
The gap is adjusted by the synchronous gear and the driven gear; I’m not sure exactly how to use a feeler gauge to adjust the male and female screws
The various methods for adjusting the clearances in screw compressors are as follows: 1. Remove the shaft seal cover, take out the mechanical seal, check the original compression amount of the seal, and remove the rotating ring. 2. For easy disassembly, stand the unit upright; the sleepers must be placed firmly and stably. Remove the positioning pin of the exhaust end cover and the bolts; after slightly lifting it with a jacking screw, lift it smoothly using a overhead crane in conjunction with a hand chain hoist. 3. Place the unit flat on the sleepers, and use a depth gauge to measure the relative position between the shaft end at the exhaust side and the end face of the gland; a dial indicator can also be used for verification. 4. Pry open the anti-rotation shims of the positioning bearings, loosen the back caps, and remove the male and female rotor bearings as well as the inner and outer adjustment shims; be sure to label them and arrange them neatly. 5. Gently tap the rotor shaft head at the exhaust end to move both the male and female rotors all the way to the suction end. Measure again the relative position between the shaft head and the end face, and observe the value indicated by the dial indicator; by comparing these values, determine the amount by which the rotors have been moved. That is, the axial clearance between the rotor’s exhaust end face and the exhaust end cover is standardly 0.08–0.10 mm.
One on the 4th floor. To adjust the clearance, is it correct to add shims between the inner ring of the bearing and the step {to increase the clearance} or to grind the outer ring of the bearing {to decrease the clearance}?
You’re adjusting the end-face clearance; the original poster was probably trying to adjust the meshing clearance
