Recently, reporters at the eighth circulating water unit of Yangzi Petrochemical learned that since the key equipment in this unit, namely the steam turbine, was equipped with domestically produced valve spools and seat components for the first time, the unit has been operating well over the past 3 months. Key parameters such as speed, temperature, and pressure are all within normal ranges, fully meeting the production requirements. This has resulted in cost savings of over 200,000 yuan, representing a cost reduction of more than 80%. “The successful implementation of this localization upgrade is not only a successful example of our efforts to reduce costs and improve efficiency, but it also represents an important breakthrough on the path to independent innovation.” ”Wang Jianjun, Secretary of the Party Branch and Deputy Director of the Olefin Water Treatment Workshop at Yangzi Petrochemical’s water treatment plant, said. The eighth circulating water unit is a supporting facility for the company’s No. 2 ethylene plant, and its core equipment, the steam turbine, was imported from Japan over 20 years ago. For a long time, the key components of this equipment have relied on imports, resulting in long procurement cycles and high costs. To break out of this dilemma, the company’s equipment management team took the initiative to conduct in-depth research and evaluations on domestic alternatives. They carefully studied the technical parameters and performance requirements of the original components, and actively communicated with several high-quality equipment manufacturers in China to assess their production capabilities and product quality. After thorough technical analysis and multiple rounds of comparison, a well-known domestic manufacturer was ultimately selected, enabling the localization of these components.
