Design a sending tank as required by the user (as shown in the figure). Question: Can an elliptical head be directly welded to a tapered head with flanges? Without a cylinder, does it meet the standard requirements? I hope fellow sailors can help answer this question. Thank you!
I don’t see any standard stating that this is not allowed; so it’s permissible. It’s just not known whether there is a problem with the cone seal at the lower flange connection.
Just lengthen the straight sections of the conical head a bit, following the relevant provisions in GB/T150.3.
This structure should work, but there are many factors to consider. 1. Stiffness issue. Considering the weight of the medium and the equipment, the issue of instability needs to be taken into account. 2. Leakage issue. Place it in the direction indicated in the diagram; due to the heavier weight at the top and lighter weight at the bottom, as well as the larger size at the top and smaller size at the bottom, the flange at the bottom is prone to leakage
As long as the strength calculation is successful, this structure should work
There’s no problem with the lower end; several reinforcement plates can be added to the flange
