Today, I heard from an experienced expert that overpressure testing of containers, such as pressure resistance tests, is beneficial for preventing brittle fracture in containers. I would like to know what the basis or principle behind this claim is
Personally, I believe that stress tests at levels exceeding a certain threshold will cause a redistribution of stresses within the container, which will reduce the magnitude of local stress concentrations to some extent.
