When heavy oil is used as fuel, what is the typical required viscosity level in CST after heating before it can enter the burner for combustion? Seeking advice
If it’s possible to avoid using heavy oil, do so; its viscosity is too high, and the misting effect achieved with MPS is not good either. We used heavy oil before, but its combustion efficiency was not satisfactory; later on, we had no choice but to use diesel.
When heavy oil is used as fuel, there are many factors that affect its combustion. The viscosity requirements vary depending on the atomization method; when using a high-pressure blower for atomization, a viscosity of 90 SSU or less is required. However, in some cases, if the oil quality is good and contains plenty of flammable components, it can still burn well even at a viscosity of 150 SSU.
