Is reinforcement required for large openings in pressure vessels, such as manholes? Are there any bases or calculation formulas for reinforcement?
It is needed. For pressure vessels at normal pressure, refer to NBT47003.1; for large storage tanks, consult GB50341 – both standards specify requirements regarding reinforcement through openings. NBT47003.1 provides methods for calculating reinforcement for openings, which are the same as those used in the 150 equal-area method; GB50341 specifies directly the dimensions and thicknesses required for reinforcement of openings
