Does a glass-lined reactor qualify as a pressure vessel? 6 kilograms of steam at 170°C is introduced into the jacket of the reaction vessel. Our factory operates on a batch basis, and sometimes steam is used in the jacket while at other times circulating water is used; isn’t this quite dangerous? If the glass-lined reaction vessel is considered a pressure vessel, is it acceptable for us to register only 40% of the vessels and to have only 40% of them inspected?
Determine whether the glass-lined reactor falls under the jurisdiction of pressure vessel regulations according to Article 1.3 of the Fixed Volume Regulations. Glass-lined reactors with jackets are multi-chamber vessels; the classification for each chamber is determined separately, with the higher of these classifications being used as the design classification. In the 1999 version of the pressure vessel regulations, glass-lined equipment within its applicable scope is classified as category II vessels. Enameled equipment falls outside the scope of GB150 and must comply with the provisions of GB25025 \"Technical Requirements for Enameled Equipment\".
Steam at 6 kilograms and 170°C is introduced into the jacket of the reactor, so it is definitely a pressure vessel.
We invited the people from the special inspection agency for a meal, took them out for a bit of fun, and had discussions with them. If this helps to reduce the number of enamel reactors by half, it would save the company a significant amount of money – spending less to achieve greater savings, right?
They are pressure vessels, and each one must be submitted for inspection. It’s fine for now, but once something happens, no one can stay uninvolved. The management of pressure vessels must not be ambiguous.
According to the new capacity regulations, there are no special requirements for glass-lined steel. Of course, it’s a pressure vessel.
This post was last edited by repurb on 2017-11-29 at 12:20. Doing it this way will avoid problems; if anything goes wrong, it will be your responsibility. Now you call it handling things flexibly, but when something goes wrong it’s acting on one’s own initiative.
According to the regulations, each unit must be submitted for inspection! If it is not used as a pressure vessel in subsequent use, the registration for pressure vessel status can be cancelled, but the safety accessories related to the reactor also need to be replaced.
Sometimes steam, sometimes circulating water? Should fatigue be taken into consideration?
